About Sky Roll

Sky Roll is a 3D rolling game on a checkered track high above the clouds. Your striped ball rolls forward by itself, faster and faster, and all you do is steer. Weave round the toy blocks, stay on the narrow bridges, fly off the yellow ramps, and see how far down the endless track you can get before you roll off the edge.

How to play Sky Roll

1. Tap the board or press an arrow key to start rolling.
2. Steer left and right. On a computer, use the arrow keys or A and D. On a phone, drag your finger left and right anywhere on the board: the ball follows your finger. You can also turn on Tilt in the toolbar and steer by tilting your phone.
3. The ball rolls forward on its own and keeps speeding up. You can't slow it down, so look ahead.
4. Steer round the blocks. Touching one ends the run.
5. Don't roll into a gap or off the edge of the track. Narrow bridges get narrower the further you go.
6. Roll over a yellow ramp to jump across the hole after it. Keep straight in the air and you'll land on the far side.
7. Your score is the distance you roll, in metres (one tile is one metre). Press P or the pause button to pause.

Rules

• The track is five tiles wide. The ball stays up as long as its centre is over a tile, so it can hang a little over the edge of a gap.
• The ball touches a block when any part of it meets the block's base, including the corners.
• Speed depends only on how far you've rolled: it rises steadily from the start and tops out at about 68 km/h.
• Every stretch of track has a clear way through. When the clear lane moves over, it moves one lane at a time, and both lanes stay clear for long enough to change lanes at the speed you'll be going when you get there.
• Ramps span the whole track, and the landing after them is always wide and long enough for the speed you'll hit the ramp at.
• The track gets busier the further you go: more blocks, more gaps and longer bridges, until about 2.4 km.
• Your best distance is saved in your browser.

Sky Roll tips and strategy

• Look down the track, not at the ball. By the time a block is close, it is often too late to change lanes at speed.
• Stay near the middle when you can. From the middle lane you are never more than two lanes from anywhere.
• Make small corrections. A quick tap of an arrow key moves the ball a little; holding it swings the ball right across the track.
• On a phone, keep your finger down and slide it. The ball chases your finger and eases in as it gets there, which is steadier than lots of short swipes.
• Line up before a ramp and don't steer in the air. You land in the lane you take off from.
• On a narrow bridge, aim for the centre of the tile and hold still. Most falls on bridges come from over-correcting.
